LOS ANGELES - Tyler Pagano hit a double and scored a run, while Matt DiLeo collected his first career hit and RBI as the Oakland baseball team (0-5) fell to Southern Cal (7-0), 11-1, Saturday afternoon at Dedeaux Field.
USC jumped out to a 2-0 after a sacrifice fly by Timmy Robinson in the first inning followed by a AJ Ramirez RBI-double in the second inning. The Golden Grizzlies responded with a run in the top of the third as Pagano led off the inning with a ground-rule double down the right-field line and later scored as DiLeo ripped his first career hit on the first pitch to center field.
The Trojans added to their lead in the fourth inning as Ramirez brought home two runs with a single up the middle to make the score 4-1. USC put up another two runs in the fifth as Blake Lacey hit a RBI single and later scored on an Oakland error to push the lead to 6-1.
Connor Fannon suffered his first loss of the season throwing 3.0 innings, allowing two runs, none earned, on five hits with two strikeouts. USC's Kyle Twomey earned the win tossing 7.0 innings allowing one run on four hits with six strikeouts.
Oakland will play the final game of the series with Southern Cal tomorrow starting at 4 p.m. ET.
