ORLANDO, Fla. - Rebecca Phyle and the Oakland women's tennis team (2-6) tallied their second 7-0 victory in as many days Monday afternoon with the Golden Grizzlies' sweep of Mount St. Mary's in a neutral site match.
Phyle and doubles partner Cam Sabourin posted an 8-1 victory at No. 3 doubles as Oakland swept all three doubles matches for the first point of the day. At No. 1 doubles, Karine Celis and Juliana Guevara also were 8-1 winners.
In singles play, Phyle was one of five straight-set winners for Oakland, winning her No. 6 singles match 6-1, 6-2. Tamara Blum and Elizabeth Guy were dominant as well; Blum won at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-1, while Guy posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles.
Sabourin captured a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles while Guevara won her No. 5 singles match 6-3, 6-2. Celis needed a tiebreaker at No. 1 singles before prevailing 6-3, 4-6, 10-7.
The Golden Grizzlies continue their week-long trip in Florida Tuesday when Oakland challenges the State College of Florida.
