ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies (4-9) will travel to College Park, Md. for a battle with No. 15 Maryland (11-1) this Saturday. The game will be nationally-televised on the Big Ten Network at 5 p.m.

This will be the first meeting between Oakland and the Terps. The Golden Grizzlies are 2-33 all-time against Big Ten opponents.

HAYES NAMED HORIZON LEAGUE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

â-ª Redshirt freshman Jalen Hayes was named freshman of the week for the first time of his career after scoring 16 points at Pitt last Saturday (12/20). Hayes made 7 of 9 shots from the floor before fouling out with 3:37 left in regulation and Oakland leading 70-67. Pitt rallied to tie the game at the end of regulation and won in OT, 81-77.

â-ª Hayes averaged 9.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game for hte week.

GOLDEN GRIZZLIES RECORD IN DECEMBER

â-ª The Golden Grizzlies have historically played better in December than November. Oakland has won 60 percent of its games against mid-major and non-D1 opponents since moving Division I in 1999-00 (53-35).

â-ª Oakland has posted a 3-32 record against Power 5 conference opponents this month. The Golden Grizzlies will take on Michigan State, Arizona, Pitt, Clemson and Maryland on the road this year.

â-ª Oakland's Kahlil Felder leads the country with 95 assists this season and broke the Horizon League and Oakland freshman record with 212 assists last season. He led all rookies in the NCAA and finished seventh in the country with 6.4 assists per game in 2013-14.

â-ª A native of Detroit, Felder is trying to become the second Oakland player to lead the NCAA in assists per game (Johnathon Jones, 8.3 in 2010). He is currently fifth with 7.3 per contest, tops in the Horizon League.

â-ª Felder has scored 20 or more points in three straight games and a career-best five this season. He ranks sixth in the league with 16.8 points per game and is second in the country in minutes per game (38.9).

â-ª Extend the Golden Grizzlies' streak to 816. The last time Oakland did not convert a shot from behind the arc was on Jan. 30, 1988 vs. Wayne State University.

â-ª UNLV, Princeton and Vanderbilt are the only three schools to make a 3-pointer in every game since the inclusion of a 3-point line in 1986-87. Western Carolina was the first intercollegiate school to make a 3-point field goal.
