Oct. 2, 2014 ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland men's soccer team (1-5-1, 1-0-1 HL) will continue Horizon League play on Saturday as it hosts Green Bay (3-3-3, 0-0-1 HL) at the Oakland Soccer Field starting at 7 p.m. It is Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night as all Oakland faculty and staff with a valid ID will receive a free "Wear The Bear" t-shirt.
The Golden Grizzlies are coming off a thrilling 2-1 double-overtime victory over the University of Detroit-Mercy on Wednesday. Matt Dudley scored the game-winning goal in the 105th minute off a free kick, while Shawn Claud Lawson netted the equalizing goal in the 86th minute off a cross from John DeLeon. Oakland is currently tied for first place on top of the Horizon League standings with defending regular-season champion UIC with four points. Gerald Ben leads the Oakland offense with three points, while Wes Mink has 14 saves and a 1.44 goals-against average.
Green Bay enters Saturday's match with a 3-3-3 record including a 2-2 draw with Milwaukee on Wednesday to begin Horizon League play. The Phoenix are led by Audi Jepson, who leads the league with 21 points including a league-best nine goals. Defensively, Dani Alvarado is 2-1-3 on the season with 25 saves and just seven goals allowed for a 0.97 goals-against average.
