DAYTON, Ohio - Juliana Guevara won two doubles matches and a singles match to lead the Oakland women's tennis team in the second day of action at the WSU Raider Shootout on Saturday. Tamara Blum and Karine Celis also picked up singles wins for OU.
"Our doubles play showed some improvement today in the second round," said head coach Heather Redshaw. "Karine (Celis) and Elizabeth (Guy) came back from 3-6 down and won 8-6 against Wright State. Tamara (Blum) and Karine (Celis) dominated against Detroit and Juliana won against Dayton. Overall, we had a good tournament day with Juliana (Guevara) and Karine in the finals of the back draw and Elizabeth playing for third place in the main draw tomorrow."
Guevara won her singles match by a score of 6-0 and 6-1, while winning her doubles matches 8-5 and 8-3, respectively. Blum won her singles match 6-4 and 6-2, and Celis won 6-1 and 2-1. The other OU victory came in doubles competition as Celis and Elizabeth Guy won their second match together 8-6.
The Golden Grizzlies will compete in the final day of the WSU Raider Shootout on Sunday starting at 9 a.m.
