ROCHESTER, Mich. - Despite a seven-save effort by goalkeeper Payj O'Shea, the Oakland women's soccer team lost their regular season finale to Milwaukee 1-0 Friday evening at OU Soccer Field. The loss dropped to 9-8-1 overall and 4-3-0 in league action while the Panthers claimed the regular season title with a 6-1-0 Horizon League ledger and improved to 8-8-1 overall.

"Right there is the level; Milwaukee is it," interim head coach Dave Morgan said following the contest. "We've got a good team, we've done a lot of great things after the slow start to our season to put ourselves in position for an opportunity to come in first, but Milwaukee did what they needed to."

As the No. 3 seed in the Horizon League Championship, Oakland will host No. 6 seed Youngstown State Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. ET at the OU Soccer Field. The winner of that game will advance to the semifinal round and take on No. 2 seed Wright State Friday, Nov. 8. The semifinals and final will be hosted by top-seeded Milwaukee.

Milwaukee scored the game's lone goal in the 13th minute when Vienna Behnke whittled her way down the left side, got around an Oakland defender at the byline and went head on towards the goalmouth. Her quick touch found a spot past O'Shea, breaking Oakland's streak of consecutive shutout minutes that spanned over five games.

Oakland looked to have the equalizer in the 64th minute when Kyla Kellermann blasted a shot from the right side that got past Milwaukee goalkeeper Paige Lincicum, but was deflected away by the far post.

Oakland continued to press late looking to equalize, churning out eight shots in the second stanza, but the Golden Grizzlies were held at bay.

Prior to the start of the game, Oakland recognized the dedication of its eight-player senior class: Abigail Haelewyn, Serena San Cartier, Kourtney Grant, Jordan Penz, Meghan Reynolds, Stephanie Pilarski, Whitney Sarkis and O'Shea were all honored before the contest.
