GUY GOES 2-1 DURING DAY ONE OF BRONCO INVITE

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Oakland's Elizabeth Guy went 1-1 in singles and 1-0 in doubles in the first day of action at the Bronco Invitational, hosted by Western Michigan University.

Guy paired with Karine Celis to defeat IUPUI's team of Rachael Bridegroom and Jaclyn Hyman in the first round of the doubles draw, 8-3. Guy also added a 7-6 (5), 6-0 win over IUPUI's Hyman in round robin singles action.

Also earning a singles victory was Juliana Guevara, who bested Hyman 6-0, 6-0. Oakland's Rebecca Phyle was victorious against Bridegroom in the Brown Singles flight with a score of 6-4, 6-0.

Oakland's Tamara Blum and Maxime Colen lost in singles play 8-3 to Western Michigan's Tracy Kuhle and Barbare Eristavi. Rounding out the team's action in the doubles draw were Phyle and Guevara, who dropped an 8-3 match to a split team of Detroit's Elena Strakhova and Notre Dame's Darby Mountford.

Teams return to action Saturday to round out the two-day event.
