Complete NSCAA Midwest Ranking
KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Following a successful weekend of action, the Oakland men's soccer team moved up to the No. 4 spot in the NSCAA Midwest Regional Rankings, which were released on Tuesday. The Golden Grizzlies posted back-to-back shutout wins over Cleveland State and Vermont.
"It's nice to be recognized by fellow coaches for our 3-0 start," said head coach Eric Pogue. "The Midwest Region is loaded with some of the top teams in the nation, so be in the top four alongside those teams is nice recognition for the hard work of the team as a whole."
The Golden Grizzlies have yet to concede a goal this season after starting the year with three consecutive shutout victories. The Golden Grizzlies have played all three of those matches at home, but will face a stern test against nationally-ranked West Virginia on Sunday.
"We know we have a tough test ahead of us when he leave home to play at West Virginia," added Pogue. "The Mountaineers are one of the most talented teams in the nation, so we'll use this whole week to get prepared for the challenging task that lies ahead of us."
The Golden Grizzlies will take on the Mountaineers Sunday at 1 p.m.
