ROCHESTER, Mich. -- The Oakland men's soccer team will host its Inaugural Bocce Night presented by E&E Manufacturing at the Palazzo di Bocce on Friday, Mar. 25, 2011 from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m., head coach Eric Pogue announced Tuesday. The Golden Grizzlies are hosting the event in an effort to raise funding to light the soccer field.

"The Inaugural Oakland Men's Soccer Bocce Ball Night presented by E&E Manufacturing should be a great fundraiser for the Lights! Grizzlies! Action! campaign to help put lights on our game field this fall," said Pogue. "These lights are something we have been trying to get on our game field for decades and we are this close to making it happen, which will be huge for Oakland soccer and the soccer community."

The night will feature open play on four of the championship-style Bocce courts in the Pallazo courtyard, appetizers from the Pallazo kitchen, a silent auction and the opportunity to meet the Oakland men's soccer team. This season the Golden Grizzlies won the Summit League Tournament and advanced to face Michigan State in the NCAA Tournament. The two ticket levels for the event are $30 and $55 and both feature a tax-deductible donation portion.

"I got the idea from visiting Palazzo di Bocce one day when I was driving by and it looked like a lot of fun and a great event for the end of the winter time," added Pogue. "The event is the night before the Bucks College Cup when we play Akron and Notre Dame, so we are hoping for a lot of players, parents, alumni and friends of the Oakland soccer program to come for the weekend and to support a great cause."
