ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland University's Derick Nelson was named to the 2008 Men's Basketball Summit League Championship All-Tournament Team, announced by the league on Wednesday. Nelson, a junior from Lansing, Mich., led the Golden Grizzlies to the semifinals before falling to runner-up IUPUI, 80-65.

Nelson led the Golden Grizzlies in the tournament, averaging 19.0 points per game and 10.5 rebounds per game. He tallied his fifth double-double of the season against the Jaguars in the semis, scoring 21 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in 39 minutes of action.

Against Western Illinois in the quarterfinals on Sunday night, Nelson went for 19 points and grabbed nine boards in an 80-66 win over the Leathernecks.

Oakland ended the season 17-14 overall. The Grizzlies were the only team in The Summit League to defeat a ranked opponent, defeating then-No. 23 Oregon, 68-62, at The Palace of Auburn Hills on Dec. 22, 2007.
