(Apr. 18, 2006) ???C With a pair of 74s in the final round, Patricia Ellsworth (Leamington, Ontario) and Jenna Goulet (Forest, Ontario) led Oakland???s women???s golf squad to a fifth-place finish at the Rocket Spring Classic. The Golden Grizzlies finished the three-round tournament with a score of 979 thanks to the Ontario pair???s strong final rounds. Stacey Goins (Rochester Hills, Mich.) was the top overall finisher for Oakland, placing in a tie for 14th with a 54-hole total of 237. Eastern Michigan claimed the team title, scoring a 900, followed by host Toledo (921), Ohio (946) and Butler (968), who joined the Golden Grizzlies in the top five. Goins was the steadiest Oakland golfer in the tournament, finishing the three-round event with an 81 over the final 18 holes to make her total 237 (76-80-81) and earn her fourth top-20 finish of the season. Tying for two of the lowest score of the final round, Ellsworth and Goulet led the Golden Grizzly squad on the final day. Ellsworth finished in a tie for 19th after wrapping up the tournament with her 74 to give her a total of 241. With a score of 248, Goulet earned a share of 29th place with her 74 on the final day. Christina Cibrario (Milford, Mich.) earned the distinction as the final Oakland golfer to count toward the team total, firing an 86 in the final round to give her a total of 253, which was good for a share of 34th place. With a third round score of 91, Kelly Wilke (Sandusky, Ohio) finished in 50th place with a final total of 269. Playing as individuals, both Nichole Swan (Tipp City, Ohio) and Erica Novak (Westland, Mich.) saved their best for the final round. Swan finished the tournament with an 80 in the final round to give her a 54-hole total of 253, earning her a share of 34th place. Wrapping up her first tournament of the season, Novak shot an 82 on the final day to finish 44th with a total of 260. Up next for Oakland is the Mid-Continent Conference Championships on April 24-25, hosted by IUPUI.
