Brandon Felker???s (Waterford, Mich.) career, and the seventh time for
Jeff Wiese (Omaha, Neb.), the pair earned Mid-Continent Conference Player of the Week honors it was announced today. The duo helped key Oakland???s first ever win (2-1) over regionally ranked Michigan Friday since the two squads became Division I varsity programs (1998 and 2000, respectively). Felker scored Oakland???s first goal of the evening just over nine minutes into the contest, then teamed up with
Brady Vance in assisting on the game-winner in the 79th minute. The win gave the Golden Grizzlies their first victory of the season and their first over the Wolverines in five tries. The senior forward is now second on the team with three points for the season. No stranger to conference, regional and national recognition, Wiese gets the Mid-Con nod after an impressive performance in OU???s 2-1 defeat of in-state rival Michigan. The senior keeper held the Wolverines scoreless until a late goal in the 80th minute of play. Altogether, Wiese tallied six saves to bring his season total to 27. Not taking a long break in action, the Golden Grizzlies take the pitch Wednesday, Sept. 21, when the Detroit Titans come to Rochester for a 4 p.m. match-up.
