Jeff Wiese (Omaha, NE) was named the Mid-Continenet Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending September 15th. Wiese became the second rookie goalkeeper in as many weeks to garner the award. He posted his first two shutouts for the Golden Grizzlies, helping them even their record at 2-2-1. Wiese stopped six shots, including one from point-blank range in the second half, in Oakland's 1-0 win at Marquette. He followed that up by making five saves in a 3-0 shutout of Bowling Green. His performance lowered his goals against average to 1.12 and increased his save percentage to .812. Wiese will look to extend Oakland's win streak to three games when the Golden Grizzlies travel to Ann Arbor on September 20th to take on the Michigan Wolverines at 6:00 p.m.
