Oakland University head men's soccer coach Gary Parsons announced today that the OU soccer program has signed eight prospective student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. The eight signees will attend Oakland in the fall and will make an immediate impact on OU soccer. ???With the graduation of seven senior starters this year, the soccer program will be counting on a number of freshman recruits to make an immediate impact on our team,??? Parsons said. ???We could have as many as six freshman in the starting line-up next year. We feel we have had an excellent recruiting class both in quality and quantity and we are looking forward to seeing our new recruits along with our returning players competing for starting positions this fall.??? Philip Braathen to those National Letters of Intent. Wiese, a goalkeeper, is also a product of Omaha, Nebraska and will graduate in May 2001 from Millard West High School. He has earned three varsity letters at MWHS and captained his club team. A native of Omaha, Nebraska, Vuagniaux will graduate in May 2001 from Harry A. Burke High School in Omaha. Vuagniaux is a four-year starter and was named all-state, all-metro and all-conference after his junior season as a defender/midfielder. He is also captain of the ODP team he???s played on for four years. McNabb is a midfielder and will graduate from Cape Central High School in Cape Girardeau, Missouri in May 2001. The 1999 Southeast Region Offensive Player of the Year, he played four years of varsity soccer and was named first team all-conference twice and was honorable mention all-state in 1999. Ng will graduate in June 2001 from Randolph High School in Randolph, Massachusetts. Ng has earned three varsity letters at RHS as a defender/midfielder and was named league MVP in 1999 and earned a spot on the Eastern Massachusetts All-Star Team in 1999 and was named all-state. A native of Miami, Florida, Martin, a midfielder/forward, will graduate in June from Southwest Miami Senior High School. He is a four-year letterwinner, was named Team MVP three years and is the leading goal scorer in the Miami-Dade area. Syvertsen is a native of Oslo, Norway and will graduate from Nordstrand High School in July 2001. A defender/midfielder, he is a member of the state team and regional team and was selected for the Norwegian Soccer Associations Talent Camp. Halland is also a product of Norway ... Vikersund, Norway. Halland currently attends NTG, a high school of Norwegian top athletes. He is a striker/midfielder. Braathen, a forward, is a native of Stavanger, Norway and will transfer to OU from Stavanger University College in Norway. He is a member of the Oslo Regional Team and played for second division men???s in Norway for Lillestrom and Sandnes and his team won the Norway Cup once.
