Golden Grizzlies Viggo Anthonson (Sr., Gjerdrum, Norway), Adam Heineman (Sr., Ortonville) and Paul Snape (Sr., Liverpool) helped lead the Mid-Michigan Bucks to the Premier Development League (PDL) Championship. The Bucks were defeated by eventual champions Chicago Sockers 1-0. Heineman and Snape were voted to the PDL Championship All-Tournament team. Heineman was noted for "outstanding defense efforts" and Snape for his hat-trick in the semi-final win against the Yakima Reds. "It was very upsetting," said Snape of the loss to Chicago. "We came this far and had a magnificent effort, no one was to blame." Anthonson, Heineman and Snape will re-join the Golden Grizzlies as they kick off the regular season versus the Zips of Akron September 3 at Akron, Ohio. Game time is 2 p.m. Oakland will open its home season September 16 against Dayton (1 p.m.).
