Anita Rapp and Norwegian Olympic Soccer Team Win Gold

Oakland University senior midfielder Anita Rapp (Lillehammer, Norway) and the Norwegian Olympic Soccer Team claimed the gold medal with a 3-2 overtime victory over Team USA this morning. Rapp, who is the first Olympic medalist in the history of athletics at Oakland University, played in one game at the 2000 Olympics. She will return to Rochester and life as a GOLDen Grizzly this Monday, October 2. Her first game with OU women's soccer will be at Michigan on Wednesday, October 4. The current OU squad stands at 6-2-1 overall. Rapp enters her senior year as a Golden Grizzly with 45 career games, 25 goals, 26 assists, 76 points and seven game-winning goals. Last season she was named Co-Player of the Year in the Mid-Continent Conference and earned first team all-Region and all-Conference honors. Rapp, with a 3.9 grade point average in political science and German, was named to the GTE CoSIDA Academic All-American District IV team in 1999.
