Amber Hildebrandt enters her first year as an associate coach for the Oakland University women's volleyball program. Hildebrandt is a former Golden Grizzly who competed at OU from 2009-2012 and served as a volunteer assistant under Beam in 2014.
Hildebrandt arrived to Rochester with a combined 10 years of coaching and playing experience at the Division I level. She coached at Appalachian State for three seasons over two stints (2015-2016, 2019-2021) while also spending two years as an assistant at Xavier (2016-2017).
At Oakland, Hildebrandt's responsibilities include player development, coordinating the recruiting process, training attacking players, and overseeing the offensive performance on game day.
Most recently, Hildebrandt led Appalachian State to two-straight Sun Belt Tournament appearances. The Mountaineers totaled five preseason All-Sun Belt selections in the two-season span and nine conference victories in 2019.Â
In her first stint at Appalachian State in 2015, Hildebrandt helped the Mountaineers post a 22-8 overall record with a 13-3 mark in conference action. The team matched a program record with 16 consecutive wins during the season. Hildebrandt also helped coach four student-athletes to AVCA Southeast All-Region honors.
Hildebrandt served as an assistant at Xavier for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. The Musketeers combined for 33 victories, including 20 in her first year with the program. Xavier posted a 13-5 mark in the Big East in 2016 to advance to the conference tournament title match.Â
Hildebrandt (then Miehlke) was a volunteer assistant coach at Oakland in 2014. The Golden Grizzlies reached new heights during her stint with a 22-10 overall record. She helped guide OU to Horizon League regular season and tournament titles, which resulted in the program's first-ever bid to the NCAA Tournament.Â
The 2013 Oakland alum was a part of the winningest senior class in program history with 68 total victories. As an outside hitter, Hildebrandt saw action in 87 matches and over 200 sets in her collegiate career. She also excelled in the classroom with Academic All-Summit League honors in 2010 and 2011.
The Lake Zurich, Ill., native earned a bachelor's degree in social work from Oakland in 2013.
