A native of Detroit, Michigan, Myron Brown joined the Oakland Golden Grizzlies ahead of the 2023-24 season as the program’s Director of Player Development and Brand Management.
Playing his college basketball at then-Rochester College from 1996-2000, Brown’s return to the State of Michigan comes with two decades of coaching and recruiting experience and follows a one-year stay as an assistant coach with the North Florida Osprey women’s basketball team in the Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) in 2022-23.
Prior to professionally moving slightly south to the Sunshine State, he was the head coach of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Thomas University Night Hawks in Thomasville, Georgia for five seasons from 2017-22.
Following his graduation from Rochester College, during which he earned his Bachelor of Science in English and played part of his career for current Oakland head coach Jeff Tungate, Brown joined the coaching staff at Avondale High School in 2003, helping the Yellow Jackets to consistent contender status in the Oakland Activities Association (OAA) during his five years with the program and giving him built-in ties to the local prep basketball scene.
