Frank P. Cardimen is a very familiar name around the Oakland University campus and the Rochester community. Cardimen's presence has had an effect on several aspects of university life. He has had a tremendous effect on the Oakland University soccer program. It is for his work as chairman of the National Invitational Soccer Tournament Committee that we honor him today.

Since taking over the committee in 1985, the NIST has grown into one of the most prestigious soccer tournaments in the country. The tournament has grown in every aspect under Cardimen, now involving a youth tournament, increased sponsorship, outstanding college and high school teams, excellent media coverage, and television on the Pro-Am Sports System (PASS). It is through Cardimen's leadership that these improvements have been made.

His outstanding work in other facets of OU is well documented. In 1985 he established the center for Economic Development and Corporate Services, which serves as a liaison between OU and the business community. It's primary purpose is to coordinate activities between the Oakland Technology Park and the University. Frank has taught in the school of Business Administration since 1979, and last November was named the Interim Director of Continuing Education.

Frank and his wife Deanna live in Rochester. They have three sons- Jeff, Andy, and Mike.
