Women's Soccer Travels to Kent State Before Closing the Week with Senior Night vs RCU

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland continues its trek through the fall season with two of its final three non-conference matchups this week.

The Golden Grizzlies will take the pitch twice this week after playing just a single match the week prior, where they lost a hard-fought battle, 0-1, to Toledo on Aug. 27.

In the match, the teams were neck-and-neck in possession, shots and shots on goal. The match was another showcase of Oakland's staunch back line to start the year. The Golden Grizzlies have only allowed more than one opponent goal in one match so far, and they rank third in the conference in goals allowed (5) and goals-against average (1.25).

The next step for Oakland is on the offensive side of the ball. While the Golden Grizzlies maintain high quality when chances are created, ranking fifth in the conference in shots on goal (16) and shots on goal per game (4.00), they have only scored in one match this season. Lilly Boebel has been a key offensive piece for Oakland, ranking in the top 10 in the Horizon League in shots on goal (5).

Thursday, Sept. 3 at Kent State | 6 p.m.

The Golden Grizzlies will face their fourth straight MAC opponent in the Golden Flashes. Kent State (1-3-1) is on a four-game winless streak, most recently falling, 0-1, to Duquesne on Aug. 30.

In eight all-time meetings between the two squads, Oakland has secured just one win. The teams have faced off in five consecutive seasons, with last year's game resulting in a 1-1 tie.

Kent State has had a well-rounded attack when it comes to scoring this season, with six different players having scored a goal. Forward Jules Dolinski is the lone player with multiple goals, with two scores.

This matchup is a prime chance for Oakland to ignite its offensive spark, as the Golden Flashes have allowed the most opponent goals of any MAC team (10) and are allowing two goals per game to their opponents.

Sunday, Sept. 6 vs. Rochester Christian | 7 p.m.

The Golden Grizzlies close the week by celebrating Senior Night, taking on their opponent from down the street, the Warriors.

This will be just the third matchup between the squads in program history and will be the first since 2012. In two meetings, Oakland has outscored Rochester Christian (RCU), 25-0.

RCU comes into the week with a 1-3 record after earning its first win of the season in a 4-0 victory over Cincinnati Clermont on Aug. 30.

The Warriors have had a potent offense through four games, scoring eight total goals on the season. Junior Aliana Perez leads the charge with four goals for RCU.

Perez against the impenetrable Golden Grizzlies defense will be a prime-time matchup to close the week.
