Caldwell Grand Slam Helps Oakland Avoid Series Sweep at Green Bay

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Oakland powered their way to a 10-7 victory over Green Bay on Saturday. Oakland's offense was highlighted by 13 hits, including a home run, while they drew six walks in the win.

In the first inning, Oakland's offense was active with Brooklyn Plitz scoring on a single by Maggie Murphy. Plitz achieved a season-high total of 5 putouts, showcasing her defensive prowess as well. Additional runs came from Taylor Carraway and Kam Troyer, contributing to a total of four runs. Green Bay matched Oakland with four runs of its own, closing the inning with the score tied at four apiece.

In the second inning, Autumn Liebhauser singled to bring in Plitz for another run, putting the Golden Grizzlies ahead 5-4.

Oakland expanded its lead in the third inning when Addison Caldwell hit a grand slam to left center, marking a season-high total of 4 runs batted in for Caldwell. The inning concluded with Oakland leading 9-5 after Green Bay added a run with a home run by Sidney Lamotte.

The Phoenix chipped away at the lead with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings, narrowing the gap to 9-7, but Oakland responded in the final inning to hold off Green Bay.

In the seventh inning, Kayla Turmell's single drove in Caldwell, increasing Oakland's lead to 10-7, where Oakland would hold the score for the win.

Kenna Bommarito pitched a complete game of 7 innings. She allowed three earned runs on eight hits while striking out five batters. Bommarito's performance included just one walk as she securied her 11th win of the season.

Brooklyn Plitz scored three runs and collected three hits in the game. Caldwell recorded four RBIs, including a home run, and added two runs. Bommarito pitched 7 innings, allowing three earned runs while striking out five batters. Turmell contributed with one RBI and drew three walks in her appearance.

Looking ahead, the Golden Grizzlies will face Bowling Green on Tuesday, April 28 at 2 p.m. ET in Bowling Green, Ohio.
