ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies showcased their dominance in a decisive 7-1 victory over Detroit Mercy on Saturday at OU Softball Field. The game featured a balanced offensive effort from the Golden Grizzlies, which totaled nine hits, including a double and a triple, while limiting the Titans to five hits.
The scoring began in the second inning as
Alyssa Balcom doubled to left center, followed by
Brooklyn Wyczalek's RBI single, allowing Balcom to score for the first tally of the game.
Addison Caldwell's single brought home Wyczalek, putting the Golden Grizzlies ahead 2-0 after two innings.
Detroit Mercy responded in the third inning with their only score of the game on a solo home run by Ketola, narrowing the gap to 2-1. Oakland added to its lead in the fourth when
Storm Kentros, pinch-hitting, hit a sacrifice fly that scored Kam Troyer. After four innings, the Golden Grizzlies led 3-1.
The fifth inning saw
Autumn Liebhauser triple and score on a single by
Taylor Carraway.
Annabel Power, running for Carraway, scored on a single by Troyer, increasing the lead to 5-1 after five innings.
In the sixth inning, the Golden Grizzlies capitalized on errors and a wild pitch to score two unearned runs, stretching their lead to 7-1. Oakland's defense held the Titans scoreless through the final innings, ending the game with a decisive win.
