ROCHESTER, Mich. — Oakland (10-24, 5-10 HL) fell to Youngstown State (8-30, 6-9 HL) with a final score of 6–4 on Saturday at Oakland Baseball Field. Oakland initially took the lead with a run in the first inning and added two more in the fifth, but Youngstown State responded with four runs across the second and third innings to seize the advantage, despite Oakland's ten hits.

Lucas Day led the team with three hits in the game and scored a run in the ballgame as grad senior
Carter Hain contributed offensively, collecting two hits and driving in a run, adding two doubles to his stat line. Sophomore
Aidan Schuck notched two hits and scored one run, providing consistent support in the lineup. On the mound, freshman righty
Ben Green pitched 5.0 innings, earning a career-high seven strikeouts despite allowing four runs on six hits.
Oakland took an early lead in the first inning when junior
Aidan Orr scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of redshirt-junior
Sam Griffith. Youngstown State responded in the second frame, scoring two runs from two RBI singles.
In the third inning, the Penguins extended their lead with an RBI double and a fielding error, pushing the advantage by three runs.
The Golden Grizzlies added a run in the fourth, courtesy of an RBI single from junior
Ben Clark to narrow the gap.
The fifth inning saw both teams score, with Schuck crossing the plate on a sacrifice fly by sophomore
Sam Patton. Hain followed with an RBI double, closing the deficit to 5–4 in favor of Youngstown State.
YSU increased the lead in the sixth with an RBI double, making it 6–4, which held through the ninth inning.
Green started on the mound for the Golden Grizzlies, pitching 5.0 innings and striking out seven batters. Junior
Owen Thomson came in as a reliever, pitching 2.0 innings with three strikeouts, allowing two hits and an earned run before sophomore
Andrew Landis finished the game strong, pitching 2.0 scoreless innings and allowed only one hit.
The Golden Grizzlies are set to host Central Michigan in midweek fashion on Tuesday, April 21 at the Oakland Baseball Field. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. on. ESPN+.
