ROCHESTER, Mich. – For its final event of the regular season, the Oakland University women's golf team returns to Ohio to compete in the annual Dolores Black Falcon Invitational on Saturday, April 11, and Sunday, April 12.
Renamed in 2011 in honor of former Bowling Green State head coach Dolores Black (1969-76), the invitational will be played at the Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green, Ohio. Formerly known as the Falcon Invitational, Bowling Green has hosted its home spring event since the 2006-07 season.
The Golden Grizzlies have competed in the event in all but four seasons since at least 2008-09, missing only 2009-10, 2010-11, 2015-16, and 2019-20 (the latter due to COVID-19). Oakland captured the team title once, in 2019. Last year, the Golden Grizzlies tied for third in a seven-team field, led by senior Grace Boczar's fourth-place finish in a 43-player field.
Nine teams will compete in this year's invitational: Bowling Green State, Central Michigan, Dayton, Detroit Mercy, Green Bay, Loyola Chicago, Niagara, Northern Kentucky, and Oakland. Xavier will also be in attendance with individual competitors.
In their most recent tournament, Oakland claimed the NKU Julie Invitational title with a 54-hole total of 913, marking its first tournament victory of the season. Junior Olivia Hemmila earned her first collegiate win, finishing first with a 221 (+7). Fellow junior Lily Bargamian finished close behind in second at 224 (+10), while Boczar and freshmen Logan Bentley and Channing Hagen also recorded top-25 finishes.
For the third straight tournament, Bargamian, Hemmila, Bentley, Boczar, and senior Paige Scott will make up Oakland's lineup, with Hagen again competing as an individual.
Oakland will tee off alongside Loyola Chicago and Northern Kentucky on holes five through nine, while Hagen will join individuals from Bowling Green State and Central Michigan on hole 16.
Live scoring for each round will be available on Clippd.
