DETROIT, MICH. - The Golden Grizzlies swung their way back into the win column, besting Wayne State on both ends of a Monday doubleheader, using bursts of offensive firepower at the plate to secure their ninth and tenth wins of the season.
GAME 1
The Golden Grizzlies captured a commanding 2-0 victory over Wayne State  at Gary L Bryce Field on Monday in game one of their week-starting doubleheader.
Kenna Bommarito delivered another gem in the circle, delivering her third complete game shutout performance of the season by allowing just six hits and walking none.
The Golden Grizzlies jumped to an early lead with a strong start and solid defense. In the first inning,
Addison Kopp walked, swiped second, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and eventually scored as Oakland went up 1-0 after the first inning.
In the second inning,
Storm Kentros singled and stole second, paving the way for
Taylor Carraway to deliver an RBI single to center, bringing Kentros home and stretching the lead to 2-0.
Kenna Bommarito was outstanding, pitching all 7 innings with precision, striking out a trio of batters. She faced 27 batters over 85 pitches, with 64 strikes, showcasing impeccable command and efficiency as she marked win number four.
Storm Kentros delivered a strong performance with two hits and two stolen bases, bolstering our offense.
Addison Kopp added one hit, one walk, and one stolen base, scoring once.
Taylor Carraway shone by collecting two hits and driving in one run.
GAME 2
The Golden Grizzlies powered their way to a 6-2 win in the final game of the evening.
The Golden Grizzlies' offense came alive with a decisive 4-run third inning, while pitcher J. Nelson kept the Warriors in check, allowing just four hits over seven innings.
Oakland jumped out to an early lead in the first inning when
Brooklyn Plitz crossed the plate on a double down the left field line from
Maggie Murphy, putting the Golden Grizzlies up 1-0.
Wayne State managed to knot things up in the bottom of the second inning with a run on a fielder's choice, leveling the score at 1-1.
But the Golden Grizzlies roared back in the third, igniting a four-run rally.
Addison Caldwell and Plitz both got on base, setting the stage for
Addison Kopp's RBI single that brought Caldwell home. Murphy followed with another double, driving in Plitz, then
Kayla Turmell's single scored Kopp.
Storm Kentros capped the inning with a sacrifice fly, allowing Murphy to score. Oakland surged ahead, 5-2.
In the fourth, the Golden Grizzlies extended their advantage with an RBI single from Murphy, scoring
Brooklyn Wyczalek. The scoreboard read 6-2 in Oakland's favor at the close of the fourth inning.
The game wrapped up with no further scoring, sealing a 6-2 victory for Oakland over the Warriors.
Jessica Nelson delivered a complete game performance for the Golden Grizzlies, hurling 7 innings with 85 pitches, 60 of them strikes. She gave up 4 hits and 2 earned runs, striking out 3 and walking 1. Nelson's command kept the Warriors off balance, inducing 12 groundouts and 6 flyouts, securing her fourth win of the season and improving her record to 4-1.
Maggie Murphy was a force at the plate with three hits and three RBIs, including two doubles, leading the offensive charge.
Addison Caldwell added three hits, a double, and a stolen base.
Brooklyn Wyczalek was stellar on defense with five assists from third base.
Oakland will return home for their next series, hosting Cleary on Friday, Mar. 13.
