ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies keep their record inside the Grizz Dome at a perfect 8-0 after scoring a pair of high-octane wins over Cleary on Friday.
Oakland saw contributions on all facets of the game. Offensively,
Kayla Turmell blasted a pair of home runs on the day, while
Addison Kopp slammed her first career home run in walk-off fashion in game number two. In the circle,
Kenna Bommarito delivered another masterpiece with 12 strikeouts and shutout number four on the season. And defensively, Oakland went errorless, highlighted by a bevy of plays on the hot corner by
Brooklyn Wyczalek, who seemed to account for multiple outs per inning, fielding short hops and line drives at third base in both games.
GAME 1
The Golden Grizzlies dominated the action in game one with an 8-0 triumph over Cleary. With 10 hits, including four doubles and a home run, Oakland's offense was on fire. Meanwhile, pitcher
Kenna Bommarito was untouchable, racking up 12 strikeouts in a complete-game shutout, marking the second-highest strikeout tally in her career.
In the fourth inning,
Maggie Murphy ignited the offense with a double through the right side.
Brooklyn Wyczalek came in to pinch run and was promptly driven home by a single from Bommarito.
Autumn Liebhauser and
Addison Caldwell kept the momentum going, with Caldwell's double bringing in another run, putting Oakland ahead 2-0 by the end of the inning.
The fifth inning was all about power as
Kayla Turmell blasted a two-run homer to further extend the lead. Kam Troyer had set the stage by singling and stealing second, setting up Turmell's big swing. The inning wrapped up with the Grizzlies comfortably leading 4-0.
In the sixth,
Grace Muti took one for the team, getting hit by a pitch and then advancing on a wild pitch. Liebhauser doubled, scoring Muti, and
Kama Skrek's sacrifice fly added another run. A crucial error by the Cougars contributed to the scoring spree, ending the inning with Oakland up 8-0.
The game wrapped up after the sixth inning, with the Golden Grizzlies maintaining their commanding lead to seal the 8-0 victory.
Kenna Bommarito was a force on the mound, completing the game with a shutout over six innings, allowing only three hits. Her 12 strikeouts, with no walks, showcased her dominance, facing just 21 batters and silencing the Cougars' offense. This stellar performance secured her fifth win of the season.
Kam Troyer was solid at the plate, scoring twice and notching two hits.
Kayla Turmell contributed a big swing with her home run and two RBIs. Bommarito's complete game shutout, paired with her 12 strikeouts, highlighted her dual-threat capability.
Autumn Liebhauser added two hits, including a double, and drove in a run. It was a team effort, with six players combining for seven RBIs, underscoring the Golden Grizzlies' collective offensive strength.
GAME 2
The series finale played much closer than the opening game, with Okland securing a 6-4 win, wrapping up the doubleheader with flair.
Addison Kopp's seventh-inning homer was the cherry on top, sealing the deal for Oakland.
The game kicked off with a bang as  Kopp drew a walk in the first inning, setting the stage for
Kayla Turmell's two-run blast that gave the Golden Grizzlies an early 2-0 advantage.
In inning number two,
Addison Caldwell doubled and was expertly moved to third by
Annabel Power's sacrifice bunt. Kam Troyer then delivered a clutch single up the middle, bringing Caldwell home and pushing the lead to 3-0.
Cleary got on the board in the fourth, with Olivia DeJoh scoring off Summer Smith's double, narrowing the gap to 3-1.
The Cougars clawed back in the sixth, tying the game 3-3 when Paulina O'Do smashed a two-run homer.
The seventh inning was a rollercoaster. Cleary briefly edged ahead with an unearned run off a passed ball. But the Golden Grizzlies were not to be outdone. With a pinch-hit walk by
Maggie Murphy and
Brooklyn Plitz stepping in as a pinch runner,
Addison Kopp's monumental three-run homer, her first career blast, catapulted Oakland back into the lead. Kopp's shot brought home Plitz and Troyer, securing the victory for the Golden Grizzlies.
Mary Newton was stellar on the mound, delivering 3 innings of one-hit ball with three strikeouts and no walks.
Alyssa Balcom closed it out with 1 inning, surrendering 1 unearned run on 1 hit and fanning one.
Addison Kopp shone bright with two runs, three RBIs, and her first career home run.
Kayla Turmell's homer contributed two RBIs, while Kam Troyer chipped in with two hits and an RBI, excelling with runners in scoring position.
Mary Newton's three innings of work were a standout, allowing just one hit with three strikeouts.
