INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Oakland University sophomore Kendra Venter has been named the #HLSD Women's Swimmer of the Week, the Horizon League announced on Wednesday.

Venter earned the honor after a strong performance against Purdue, giving Oakland back-to-back weekly awards across its first two meets. Freshman Haley Johnson received the first award after her performance against Youngstown State on Oct. 2-3.

The South African native claimed two first-place finishes against the Boilermakers. Venter won the 50-yard freestyle race in 23.04, edging the field by 0.13 seconds. She also led off Oakland's winning 200 free relay, which finished in 1:32.11—the fifth-fastest time in program history.

Venter added two second-place finishes in West Lafayette. She placed second in the 100 free in 50.53, one second behind the winner from Purdue. She also led off Oakland's 400-yard free relay, which finished runner-up in 3:23.19.

This is Venter's second #HLSD Women's Swimmer of the Week honor. She earned her first recognition last season after her performance against Wayne State.

Oakland returns to the Oakland Aquatic Center on Nov. 6, taking on No. 5/11 Michigan at 4 p.m. ET.
