Men's Soccer Stays Undefeated at Home with Scoreless Draw with Green Bay

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland tied Green Bay in a 0-0 on Wednesday at Oakland Soccer Field. The teams combined for 26 shots but only six on goal. The Golden Grizzlies finished with 12 shots, including seven in the second half in a battle that finished with both teams securing a point.

Green Bay opened with pressure before Oakland answered with chances from Cal Kurzawa and a 12:42 shot by Christopher Jean Leger that Drew Swancutt saved. Cole Thompson kept the match scoreless with a save in the 27th minute, and Oakland's defense also forced Green Bay offside five times in the half. The Golden Grizzlies best look of the match came from Kurzawa as he chipped a shot just over the crossbar in a one-on-one with the Green Bay keeper, leaving the game scoreless.

Oakland closed the half by holding Green Bay scoreless through a late sequence that included corner kicks at 39:15 and 44:42 and two shots in the final minute, sending the match to halftime at 0-0.

Green Bay created several chances after halftime, but Thompson saved a shot at the 53-minute mark before the Golden Grizzlies answered with two corner kicks in the next two minutes. Oakland then kept Green Bay off the board through another attacking stretch, with Thompson saving Michael Hennessy's shot in the 64th minute. The Golden Grizzlies added six shots in the final stretch of the match, but to no avail. The late push included attempts from Miller Knestrict, Kurzawa, Leger and Andriy Bilous, with Kurzawa and Bilous having shots saved by Swancutt, as the match finished 0-0.

Thompson played all 90 minutes in goal, making three saves and recording a shutout. Kurzawa led Oakland with four shots and put one on goal. Leger finished with two shots, including one on frame. Bilous also recorded two shots and placed one on goal.
