Men's Soccer Protects Undefeated Conference Record Against Green Bay and Milwaukee

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies look to protect an undefeated 3-0-1 record returning for a home game this Wednesday playing Green Bay after ending in a competitive draw against Purdue Fort Wayne over the weekend. Following this match, the team will be traveling to play Milwaukee on Saturday.

Undefeated in conference matches this season (2-0-3), Oakland is returning from a 3-3 draw against Purdue Fort Wayne on Oct. 3 where Cal Kurzawa earned his second brace of the season, bringing his season total to five goals. His 13 total points on the season ranks second most among Horizon League players.

Wednesday, Oct. 7 vs. Green Bay | 2 p.m. | ESPN+

The Golden Grizzlies and the Phoenix continue what has been a conference rivalry in recent seasons. Oakland has won three of the last four meetings, and has a 13-3-1 record. The two teams will face-off for the first time since Green Bay's postseason victory over Oakland in 2025.

Oakland is a top force on the defensive side this season, but also has found a rhythm on offense , taking seven shots in their most recent game as midfielder, Cal Kurzawa, led the team with two goals.

With a conference record of 2-1-2 (3-5-3 overall), Green Bay is coming off a 1-0 win against Detroit Mercy on Oct. 3 where their defense held the Titans to just three shots on goal all match.
Green Bay is currently ranked directly under Oakland, sitting at fourth in the Horizon League standings.

Green Bay has taken the second most shots of any team in the conference (130), but has a low conversion rate as they sit one spot behind Oakland (4.10) in shots on goal per game (3.82). Green Bay is eighth in the conference in goals scored (11), while Oakland ranks third with 16.

Luke Nicholson leads the Green Bay attack, ranking third in attempted shots (37) as they take a voluminous attack against the Golden Grizzlies.

Saturday, Oct. 10 at Milwaukee | 2 p.m. ET | ESPN+

Milwaukee is currently ranked second in the Horizon League seeding (5-4-3, 3-1-1 HL) and rank first in shots (150), shots on goal (55), and second in goals allowed (10). Just like Green Bay, the Panthers put out a high number of shots, but sometimes struggle to convert, ranking in the bottom third of the conference with 11 goals on the season.

Last year's match against the Panthers ended in a 1-1 draw. Andriy Bilous scored an opening goal, but the Panthers managed to tie the game through a penalty kick with only 11 minutes left on the clock. Oakland is 4-3-1 in games at Engelmann Stadium all-time.

Praise Ogwu is ranked within the top 10 in the conference for game-winning goals for Milwaukee, showing the team's ability to gain strength and power through the last moments of the match, having four one-goal wins this season.

With the Panthers only conference loss coming on their home field, Oakland is looking to build on that number and usurp the Panthers in the standings this weekend.
