Oakland Hosts Wayne State on Senior Day

ROCHESTER, Mich. – For the final home meet of the 2025-26 season, the Golden Grizzlies will host Wayne State in a dual meet at the OU Aquatic Center, beginning at 1 PM on January 24.

Oakland will also honor its graduating seniors throughout the day in recognition of their contributions to the program and their success over the past four years.

WOMEN'S PREVIEW
The Oakland women's team secured a 207-146 victory over Denison but fell to Miami (OH), 107-246, in their most recent outing. Lydia Soldatke, Grace Albrecht, and Kendra Venter led the way for the Golden Grizzlies, each earning top-three finishes in the tri-meet.

For the fourth time this season, Soldatke was named Horizon League Swimmer of the Week. Her two victories in the 100 and 200 back, along with her contributions to Oakland's second-place relay teams, earned her the honor for the week of January 7-13.

MEN'S PREVIEW
The Oakland men defeated both Denison (267-86) and Miami (OH) (205-148) in their last meet. The Golden Grizzlies earned multiple victories, including wins in all relay events and a sweep of the 100 breaststroke.

Christopher Palvadre, Ajjuub Ezzat, Max Haney, and Charles Brown all contributed to first-place finishes in the tri-meet. With two individual and two relay wins, Ezzat was named the OU Prairie Farms Men's Student-Athlete of the Week for January 12-18.

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
Wayne State, a regular opponent for Oakland since 2002-03, makes its second trip to Rochester this season to face the Golden Grizzlies. Earlier in the season, the Warriors competed in the Golden Grizzly Classic, where the women's team finished fifth and the men's team placed fourth.

In their most recent meet, Wayne State fell on the road to ranked Findlay, with both squads coming up just short. The men lost, 106-99, while the women scored 66 points to Findlay's 139. Despite the setback, Wayne State still ranks among the top Division II swimming and diving programs. The Warrior men currently sit at 17th in the CSCAA poll, while the women sit just outside the top 25 at 27th.

For the first time this season, the meet will be available to stream, live from the OU Aquatic Center, on ESPN+.
