GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Golden Grizzlies weren't able to overcome a slow start on the road, falling to Green Bay, 73-59, at the Kress Events Center, despite a strong rebounding effort with 43 total boards.

The game opened with Oakland's Angie Smith scoring a layup at 9:28, responding quickly after Green Bay's initial basket. Despite an early tie, turnovers plagued Oakland, resulting in the Phoenix's ability to pull ahead. Layla Gold hit a 3-pointer at 6:11, momentarily closing the gap, but Green Bay maintained control with multiple scoring runs. Lianna Baxter added a jumper and two free throws late in the quarter, but Oakland trailed 21-9 at the end of the first quarter.

Oakland experienced a significant momentum shift midway through the second quarter with a series of scoring plays. Layla Gold sparked the effort with a layup at 4:14, followed by Makenzie Luehring's 3-pointer at 3:31, assisted by Jazzy Dupree-Hebert. Gold continued to contribute with a layup at 2:55 and a 3-pointer at 2:15, narrowing the gap against the Phoenix.

Despite Oakland's efforts, Green Bay maintained their lead, capitalizing on turnovers and fast breaks to outscore Oakland 20-16 in the quarter. The score at halftime was Phoenix 41, Oakland 25.

Oakland made a significant push in the third quarter, narrowing the margin with a 9–3 run fueled by Makenzie Luehring's 3-pointer at 7:57. Angie Smith contributed with consecutive free throws at 6:05, reducing Green Bay's lead. Despite Oakland's efforts, including a late 3-pointer from Lianna Baxter at 0:35, the Phoenix maintained control. The quarter ended with a score of 59-45 in favor of Green Bay.

Oakland mounted a late push in the fourth quarter, highlighted by a scoring burst from beyond the arc. Lianna Baxter initiated with a 3-pointer at 4:57, followed by Makenzie Luehring and Filippa Goula contributing additional 3-point shots to narrow the gap. Despite these efforts, turnovers hindered further progress, and the quarter ended with both teams scoring 14 points each. The game concluded with the Phoenix securing a 73-59 victory.

Makenzie Luehring led with 15 points, hitting 5 of 14 field goals and sinking 4 of 5 from beyond the arc. Lianna Baxter contributed 16 points, converting 5 of 12 field goals and going 3 for 6 on 3-pointers. Layla Gold added 12 points and collected nine rebounds, including six on the defensive end, while also posting two blocks. Filippa Goula scored eight points, making two 3-pointers and recording four assists.

In their next game, Oakland will travel to face Milwaukee on Saturday, Jan. 24. The contest is set to begin at 3 p.m. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
