Women's Soccer Hosts Kent State for Sunday Showdown

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies return home for a single match against Kent State on Sunday, closing out the week with another MAC opponent.

Oakland faces off against their fourth MAC opponent of the season in the Golden Flashes. The Golden Grizzlies are looking to break a three-game losing and scoreless skid, most recently losing to No.5 ranked Notre Dame in their last outing.

Midfielder Brae Cole will be looking to help Oakland break their scoring slump, as she is tied for the Horizon League lead in goals scored (4) and sixth in shots on goal (7). Joining her among the top of league rankings is Ella Shapiro, whose two assists ranks tied for the second most in the conference.

The Golden Grizzlies are searching for just their second head-to-head win in seven meetings all-time with Kent State, including their first ever home win against the Golden Flashes. In last year's meeting, Kent State earned a 4-0 win in Kent, Oh. The Golden Grizzlies' last win in the yearly showdown came in 2022 with a 2-0 victory.

Kent State is an even 2-2-2 on the season. In their most recent match they fell 0-8 to Louisville.

The Golden Flashes are no stranger to the Horizon League, having faced Cleveland State and Youngstown State already this season, earning a pair of wins and out-scoring the teams a combined 6-1.

Samantha Miller and Isabelle Leofanti lead the Golden Flashes in goals with two apiece, spearheading an offensive attack that has scored the most goals (10) in the MAC. On the other side of the ball, they have allowed the most goals (14) of any team in their conference as well.

The matchup will start at 1 p.m. at the OU Soccer Field.
