Bilous Scored Early Goal as Men's Soccer Plays to 1-1 Draw with Panthers

ROCHESTER, Mich. — The Golden Grizzlies and the Milwaukee Panthers played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday at Oakland Soccer Field, finishing yet another game in dramatic fashion for Oakland.

Despite controlling the pace for much of the game, winning the possession battle 55% to 45%, and out-dueling Milwaukee in shots (15-to-11) and shots on goal (8-to-6), the Golden Grizzlies were unable to escape their second home match of The season with a win.

The first half began with Oakland establishing early momentum through consistent pressure on the Panthers' defense. Oakland saw several opportunities, striking gold as Andriy Bilous scored the opening goal in the 11th minute, assisted by Jack Klomparens and Abdul Al-Rashed.

Oakland continued to dominate possession, generating multiple corner kicks and shots throughout the half. Despite several chances to extend the lead, including shots by Klomparens and Al-Rashed, the score would hold at a 1-0 advantage for Oakland after 45 minutes of play.

The second half saw Oakland generate even more opportunities as they looked to deal a finishing blow, including a shot by Marco Mazzei that was saved by the Panthers' Diana. Oakland continued to apply pressure with attempts on target from Nour Aoude and Gabriel Baylon, both saved by Diana.

Despite sustained offensive efforts by Oakland throughout the half, the Panthers broke the deadlock late with a penalty kick goal by Angel Gongora in the 88th minute, guiding the game to the 1-1 draw conclusion.

Thompson recorded five saves in a solid effort, conceding just the penalty during his 90 minutes in net. Klomparens contributed an assist and led Oakland with four shots, placing one on target. Bilous found the back of the net, while Marco Mazzei also showed aggression with three shots. Al-Rashed also added an assist along with a pair of shots, helping to set up one of the team's scoring opportunities.

The next challenge for Oakland awaits them in Green Bay, WI, where they will face the Green Bay squad on October 4 at 3 p.m.
