ROCHESTER, Mich - The Oakland Golden Grizzlies men's and women's cross country teams are heading to Kalamazoo on Friday for the George Dales Invite hosted by Western Michigan. The women's 6k race will begin at 10 a.m. ET, while the men's 8k starts at 10:40 a.m. ET. The course is set at the Prairies Golf Club.

Both programs are coming off of individual winners from their home course at the beginning of the month. From the Golden Grizzlies Open, freshman Eliza Bush clocked in at 18:41.05, while the women rounded out six more spots in the top-10 against the competition of Detroit Mercy and Madonna. Senior Wes Hollowell wrapped up the 5k in 14:42.33 for a first place finish on the men's side. The Golden Grizzlies also saw six more to the top-10 list at their home meet.

Last year in Kalamazoo, graduated senior Michael Hancock took home the men's title on the 8k at 24:18.50, as senior Wesley Hollowell finished third overall with a time of 24:34.5 and fifth-year Tristan Brandenburg crossed the line in seventh at 24:59.40, giving the Golden Grizzlies three top-10 finishes.

On the women's side in 2024, graduated senior Grace Nolan led the group with a time of 20:39.40, good for third place. Senior Haileigh Bissett was behind, finishing 32nd in 22:14.80. Junior Anne May clocked in at 22:53.90 to finish 46th, and junior Genavieve Kushner-Lopez rounded out the scoring for Oakland with a 50th-place finish in 23:12.20.
