ROCHESTER, Mich. – Women's Soccer steps back onto the pitch after a weeklong break to take on St. Bonaventure in an East Coast matchup, marking their final non-conference game of the season.
Oakland is coming off a 1-1 tie with Kent State on Sept. 7, where
Brae Cole scored her league-leading fifth goal of the season to help the Golden Grizzlies secure the result.
Cole has been a standout for Oakland to start the season, accounting for five of the team's six goals so far.
Olivia Norton,
Corinne Jenkins,
Mallory Anderson and
Ella Shapiro have all made strong contributions in recent matches, helping the Golden Grizzlies mesh on both sides of the ball.
Anderson is second on the team in goals (1) and shots (10), Shapiro leads in assists (2), Jenkins leads in minutes played (625), and Norton has become a spark plug of energy and effort for the squad.
The Bonnies and Golden Grizzlies will face off for just the fifth time ever and the first time since 2015. In their last meeting, the teams played to a 1-1 draw in double overtime. Oakland has never lost to St. Bonaventure, holding a 3-0-1 record in the series.
St. Bonaventure has won two of its last three matches, most recently earning a 1-0 victory over Long Island University on Thursday. Oakland will be looking to hand the Bonnies their first home loss of the year, as they hold a 1-0-1 record on home soil.
With nine goals as a team this year, the Bonnies are led by Giovanna Coghetto, who has scored a team-high four goals.
The game between the Golden Grizzlies and the Bonnies is set for 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, at the Tom 80' and Michelle Marra Athletics Field Complex and will be streamed on ESPN+.
