HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The Oakland University men's golf team concluded the 2025 Horizon League Championship with a fifth-place finish at Mission Resort + Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. The tournament spanned three days, from April 19 to April 21, on the challenging El Campeón course.
Entering the championship as the second seed, the Golden Grizzlies aimed to secure their first league title since 2021. In the first round of play, the Golden Grizzlies finished sixth overall behind impressive performances from Matteo Rocco and Bhavneet Sohal. In the second round, the Golden Grizzlies made moves, jumping to fifth place, shooting 298 as a squad. However, in the final round, Oakland posted a 301, bringing their total to 905 strokes over three rounds, which placed them fifth overall.
Despite not clinching the title, the team's performance reflects a strong season with multiple top-five finishes and individual accolades. The Golden Grizzlies will look to build on this momentum as they prepare for future competitions, aiming to return to the top of the Horizon League standings next season.
