Golden Grizzlies Prepare For Final Pair of Regular Season Games

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies prepare for their final pair of regular season games, taking on IU Indy and Northern Kentucky, desperate for a necessary win as their hopes for hosting a first round game are still alive.

Oakland (6-12 HL) comes into the week on a six game slide, and currently sit in ninth place in the conference standings.

Two wins this week would go a long way in helping their postseason case, as they still sit just 1.5 games out of fifth place.

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 26 @ IU INDY | 6:30 PM | ESPN+

Oakland will play their final road match of the season against the Jags, looking to avenge the 73-79 home loss to the Jags that occurred on Jan. 8.

The Golden Grizzlies are in search of their first win at IU Indy since 2011, but may have some luck as the Jags have lost three of their last four games, and have fallen in four consecutive home contests.

This will be a game where Oakland will look to get their offense into a rhythm early, as IU Indy allows their opponents to shoot a league-high .442 from the field. Macy Smith and Maddy Skorupski will look to have a scoring outburst similar to their last meeting with the Jags, as the duo combined for 48 points and eight assists.

They will be going head-to-head with Jags leading scorer Katie Davidson (18.8 ppg), who tallied 23 points and seven rebounds last time she saw the Golden Grizzlies.

SATURDAY, MAR. 1 vs NORTHERN KY. | 2 PM | ESPN+

The Golden Grizzlies and the Norse will play in the regular season finale. NKU is also on a bit of a slide as of late, losers of three in a row coming into the week.

The Norse (7-11 HL) sit in the six spot in the standings, but with a loss to Oakland would lose any possible tiebreaker needed with the Golden Grizzlies, as Oakland goes for the season sweep of NKU for the second time in three years.

The two teams played one of the most exciting games of the season back in December, when the Golden Grizzlies won an 86-85 overtime thriller in Highland Heights thanks to 29 points from Skorupski, along with a game-tying heave at the end of regulation. Smith also scored 20 points in that game, while Madison Royal-Davis notched a 10-point, 14-rebound double-double.

Oakland's defense will have to be sharp as the Norse are fourth in the league in several offensive categories like points (65.4 ppg), field goal percentage (.404), and three point percentage (.324).They are led by Macey Blevins, who leads the Norse in scoring with 12.5 ppg.
