ST. AUGUSTINE, Fl. – Oakland Men's Golf secured 9th place at the World Golf Village Collegiate in St. Augustine, Florida behind an impressive performance by
Bhavneet Sohal, who finished in the top ten.
In the first round of play, Sohal shot an impressive 2-over-par 74 before surging in the second round with a 3-under-par 69, putting himself in contention with the tournament's top finishers. Sohal finished the tournament sixth overall.
Luke Kelly followed closely behind, posting rounds of 79 and 75 to finish at +10 through 36 holes, good enough for 35th place individually.
Ellis Kinnaird carded scores of 76 and 79 to finish at +11, while
Robert Burns recorded rounds of 81 and 77 to sit at +14. Kinnaird finished 44th overall, and Burns 62nd.
Brennan Sullivan rounded out Oakland's team effort with an 89 in the first round and an 84 in the second.
Eight Golden Grizzlies posted scores 82 or lower in the second round, helping the Men's Golf team to jump up two spots and finish 9th overall. With multiple Golden Grizzlies competing as individuals in St. Augustine, the squad looks to their next tournament to continue their momentum and improve their finish.
