Swim and Dive Shines on Day Two of Horizon League Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Men's and Women's swim and dive teams delivered standout performances on the second day of the Horizon League Championships, securing multiple first-place finishes and a championship record.

Jonas Cantrell led the way in the men's 500-yard freestyle, claiming the Horizon League title with a commanding time of 4:18.06. Karel Subagyo joined him on the podium with a third-place finish, touching the wall in 4:23.87. On the women's side, Oakland saw three swimmers place in the top six of the 500-yard freestyle. Kelley Hassett secured fourth place (4:57.14), followed closely by Erika Pietras in fifth (4:58.16), and Mia Englender in sixth (4:58.20).

Jordyn Shipps continued her dominance in the pool, taking first place in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:59.72. On the men's side, Jack Wike successfully defended his title in the event, touching first in 1:45.30.

Ronja Riihinen put together an impressive performance, securing second place in the women's 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.14. Charlie Brown claimed the men's 50-yard freestyle championship with a blazing time of 19.69. Brown set a school record in the same event during prelims with a time of 19.59. The men's 200-yard freestyle relay team of Micah Scheffer, Harry Nicholson, Jack Wike, and Charlie Brown broke the Horizon League Championship record and a school record with a winning time of 1:17.73.

On the women's side, the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Jordyn Shipps, Grace Albrecht, Sam Thiessen, and Ronja Riihinen secured a second-place finish in 1:32.21. Ellie Chalifoux delivered a stellar performance in the 1-meter dive, claiming the title with a score of 293.40. Victoria Sanders claimed second place in the 1-meter dive with a score of 290.95.

Oakland continues its quest for another Horizon League title as the championships move into Day 3 on Friday, February 21. Preliminary rounds begin at 10 a.m. ET, with finals set for 5:30 p.m. ET. All events are streamed live on ESPN+.
