Golden Grizzlies Look for Crucial Wins as They Take on Raiders and Penguins in the Final Stretch of the Regular Season

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies come barreling down the final stretch of the regular season, looking to maximize their opportunities to clinch a first round postseason, as they head to Wright State to take on the Raiders, before hosting Youngstown State as they look for revenge on the Penguins this week.

Despite a current four game losing-streak, Oakland is in prime position to finish the regular season with a seed as high as fourth, sitting just one loss behind Robert Morris, who currently sits in fourth place.

The Golden Grizzlies (8-17, 6-10 HL) finish up their regular season with a favorable schedule, facing three of the bottom four seeded teams in the conference, holding a real chance to not only enter the Horizon League Championship with momentum, but to also gain a highly coveted first round bye and even a home game.

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 19 @ WRIGHT STATE | 7 PM | ESPN+

The Golden Grizzlies and the Raiders will meet for one final time in the regular season, as Oakland looks to make it three straight victories over Wright State, including an 84-70 win that came in December of this season.

In the early season win over the Raiders, Oakland dominated by scoring 84 points, their third highest total of the season. The Golden Grizzlies shot .483 (29-of-60 FG) from the field and .412 (7-of-17 3FG) from beyond the arc as Maddy Skorupski (21 points), Macy Smith (16 points), and Lianna Baxter (14 points) combined for 51 points.

The Golden Grizzlies will once again look to repeat their offensive dominance against a Wright State team that currently ranks last in the Horizon League in defense, allowing their opponents to score 72.9 points per game.

The Raiders (7-19, 5-11 HL) have lost two of their last three games, but are on the heels of a 78-76 win over Youngstown State on Feb. 13.

Although Wright State sits in ninth place, they are jumbled in with a group of teams that all sit within three wins of each other, ranging from fifth to ninth place.

SATURDAY, FEB. 22 vs YOUNGSTOWN STATE | 2 PM | ESPN+

The Golden Grizzlies and the Penguins will also undergo their final regular season meeting this weekend, as Oakland looks to bounce back from a 56-73 road loss they suffered to YSU back on Jan. 26.

Oakland looks to snap a five-game losing streak to the Penguins in head-to-head meetings, in what is sure to be another must win game for both sides.

The Penguins (9-17, 4-12 HL) are desperate for conference wins as they sit in tenth place, just a half game above last place Milwaukee.

YSU is riding a five-game losing streak coming into the week, and will face Detroit Mercy on Feb. 20.

The Penguins have struggled on the road, holding a 1-9 road record on the season. They will most certainly look to star guard Jewel Watkins, who averages a team-high 14.7 points per game.
