Oakland and Green Bay traded chances right out the gate, but both defenses held firm. Weiger began her night with a save in the 14th minute, denying Laney Stark's attempt and maintaining the scoreline. Oakland's response came in the 22nd minute with a shot from
Alli Leonard, which was saved by Green Bay's Anna Scott, keeping the match level.
As the half progressed neither team was able to find clean spaces to attack, combining for just five total first half shots, as the half ended deadlocked on the scoreboard.
The second half began with Oakland's defense continuing to stand tall. Weiger was instrumental in maintaining the scoreline, recording five second-half saves, including a crucial one at the 48th minute against Isabella Brozek and another soon after from Aixa Helbringer-Escobar.
As the half progressed, Oakland found opportunities to counter, looking to make one last push for a win. Leonard managed to test the Green Bay goalkeeper with a shot at the 63rd and 80th minutes, but both attempts were thwarted.
Corinne Jenkins also came close with an effort that missed the mark just high in the late stages of the game. The match concluded with a scoreless draw, reflecting a strong defensive performance from Oakland.
Weiger recorded seven saves, tying her career high, in her first career shutout performance for the team. Leonard provided offensive pressure with three shots, two of which were on goal, while Jenkins contributed with a shot to the team's attacking efforts.
Oakland looks ahead to a tough weekend finale match, hosting Milwaukee on Oct. 12, at1 p.m.
