ROCHESTER, Mich. – After a thrilling 3-1 victory with career highs inside the OU Credit Union O'rena Tuesday night, the Oakland volleyball team is back on the road for Horizon League action at Robert Morris this weekend. Matches will be played Friday and Saturday, Oct. 4 and 5 at 2 p.m. ET at the UMPC Event Center with streaming on ESPN+.
OU heads East after picking up their first win of the season at home on Tuesday. The Golden Grizzlies put on a show against Cleveland State, as five different student-athletes either tied or beat a career high during the match. Most notable, outside hitter Libby Smith had a commanding 22-kill performance off of a .367 hitting clip while assisted by setter Delaney Stern's career high 55 assists.
Smith is leading the Black and Gold with 140 kills (3.42/set) from the net this season, as senior defensive specialist/libero Lyse Bates is holding down the pass game with 185 digs (3.43/set) and freshman middle blocker Grace Cooney is stopping the attack, stuffing 27.0 total blocks (0.61/set) in 2025.
Oakland is fifth in the nation and first in Horizon League in team attacks/set with 38.67, totaling 2,088 for 24th in the NCAA and top of the league.

SCOUTING THE COLONIALS
Robert Morris is 6-8 in 2025, posting a 2-1 record in Horizon League action through the first three matches.The Colonials took care of Purdue Fort Wayne in two four-set matches last weekend, before succumbing a sweep at Youngstown on Tuesday. RMU is even-keel with Oakland, hitting .159 at the net compared to the Golden Grizzlies' .165 collective hitting clip.
The Colonials were voted to finish eighth in the 2025 #HLVB Preseason Poll – tied with Oakland with 26 points. The Golden Grizzlies swept the two-match series last season against Robert Morris. OU swept the Colonials in the first match at home before a battle in five on the Blacktop in the second. Oakland holds a heavy 13-3 all-time series lead over Robert Morris, having competed five times before RMU became a member of the Horizon League in 2020.
