Women' Basketball Takes on Wisconsin Road Trip as they visit the Panther and Phoenix

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies look to get back on track as they prepare to face the Panthers and the Phoenix in a Wisconsin road trip this week.

Oakland is trying to break a three game losing skid, after starting conference play 4-0.

Despite a recent slide, the Golden Grizzlies have been playing some of their best offensive basketball of the season, shooting better than .400 from the field in each of their last two games.

In conference games, Oakland is still a top five offensive team in the Horizon League, averaging 66.4 points per game while shooting nearly .440 from the floor.

Where they have struggled has been on the glass, having been outrebounded by a combined 30 rebounds over their losing streak.

Maddy Skorupski and Macy Smith have been on a tear for Oakland, carrying their offense to what can be a prolific part of the squad's game. In conference games, the dynamic duo averages 34.7 points per game, the fourth most of any pair of teammates in the league.

THURSDAY, JAN. 16 @ MILWAUKEE | 12 PM ET | ESPN+

The Golden Grizzlies and the Panthers gear up for their first meeting of the season, as the Panthers look to gain any momentum in what has been a struggle of a season thus far.

Milwaukee holds a 3-14 record (1-6 HL), having lost nine of their last 10 games, including a 58-70 loss to Purdue Fort Wayne on Jan. 9.

Oakland has emerged victorious in two of the last three meetings against the Panthers, including a 66-58 win in Milwaukee in their last face-off (2/24/24).

The Panthers have been the third lowest scoring team in Horizon League games (60.6 ppg). Their defense in those games has been stronger than the offense, as they hold their conference opponents to the third lowest field goal percentage (.391) of any team.

Senior guard Kacy Baumhower has been the shining spot on Milwaukee, averaging a team-high 13.7 points per game, one steal per game, and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting nearly .350 from three point range.

SATURDAY, JAN. 18 @ GREEN BAY | 1 PM ET | ESPN+

Oakland will close out their three game road trip with a big time meeting with the Phoenix.

The Golden Grizzlies will look to repeat a huge game last season as they upset a then-undefeated in conference play Green Bay team in January of last season, winning 83-81 behind an electric game-winner.

After a few uncharacteristic losses early this season, Green Bay has won six in a row coming into the week to move into second place in the Horizon League standings (6-1 HL).

The Phoenix have the best defense in the conference, allowing a league-low 59.6 points per game. They combine a strong defense with an efficient offensive attack, shooting .424 from the field and committing a league-low 12.1 turnovers per game.

Two-Time Horizon League player of the week Natalie McNeal has been on a tear this season for Green Bay, averaging 14.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. She is accompanied by Maddy Schreiber, who averages just one less point per game at 13.1, while shooting .340 from three on the season.
