Women's Soccer Heads to Wisconsin for Two-Game Road Stint

ROCHESTER, Mich. - After Oakland's huge 3-1 home win against the Youngstown State Penguins on Sept. 22,, the Golden Grizzlies are hitting the road for a pair of matches in Wisconsin as they take on Milwaukee and Green Bay this week.

THURSDAY, SEPT. 26 @ MILWAUKEE at 8 PM ET

The Golden Grizzlies are 3-14-4 against the Panthers, but they are looking to add another win on Thursday. In the last matchup between the teams, Julia Zangerl had two saves as the Golden Grizzlies shutout the Panthers, ending in a 0-0 tie.

Frankie Mudd is the head of the snake for Oakland's offense, leading the team and ranking in the top 10 of the Horizon League in goals with three and second in shots on goal (12). Zangerl has 43 saves on the year so far, fifth in the conference.

For Milwaukee, Lainey Higgins is leading in goals with five, most in the league, and Parker Donahugh has 31 saves, which ranks ninth.

Oakland will look to capitalize on a Milwaukee defense that has allowed the second most goals of any league team (20), but has also scored the most goals (17) themselves.

The Panthers are an overall 3-6-1 on the season, having played some top level out of conference opponents. In Horizon League play, Milwaukee is 2-0, having shutout both of their opponents in NKU and Wright State.

SUNDAY, SEPT. 29 @ GREEN BAY at 2 PM ET

For game number two of the Wisconsin series Oakland will play the Phoenix, who have had a rough 0-1-1 start to conference play.

Green Bay has allowed the third fewest goals of any league team (15). Senah Hanes is the team's top goal scorer with four goals, good enough for third best in the league.

Oakland and Green Bay also played to a 0-0 tie last season. The Golden Grizzlies do have the upper hand all-time, holding a 7-3-3 record against the Phoenix, going unbeaten in the past six matchups.

The Golden Grizzlies are 2-2-1 at Aldo Santaga Stadium and haven't lost in Green Bay since 2017.

Oakland can make a sizable early season push in league standings if their trip is successful, as they currently hold a 1-0-1 record in Horizon league play going into the week.
