Women's Soccer Adds Pair of High-Level Assistants to the Program

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Women's Soccer has put the finishing touches on their new coaching staff, hiring a pair of professional level assistants to the program in Jessica Newton and Trevor Foster.

Newton, a native of Petersburg, FL., brings a professional pedigree to the program. She has played at the highest level of soccer at every stop in her journey, from playing at the famed IMG high school (2017-2018), to a dominant four year collegiate career at Presbyterian College (2018-22), then using her immense talent she headed overseas to join MSV Duisburg II in Germany's Landesliga, where in 2023-24 she excelled as a lockdown defender, appearing in 14 games and earning a pair of assists for the club.

"I am beyond excited to join and help grow this program," said Newton. "I would like to thank Devin and the OU staff for extending such a warm welcome to me and for giving me the chance to become a part of the Oakland family. Big things are coming for Oakland women's soccer!"

Newton also adds top notch coaching experience as well, having served as an assistant coach for the MSV Duisburg U15 team. She also served as assistant coach for the Michigan Jaguars FC and at Lynn University.

"I'm thrilled to welcome Jessica to our staff," added Oakland Women's Soccer Head Coach Devin Zvosec. "Her extensive background in playing collegiate soccer at a high level and professionally is invaluable, and she has used this experience to nurture development among players at every level. Her understanding of the game aligns with our game model, and she prides herself on empowering players to become solution-finders on the field. Her contagious positivity assures me that she will play a pivotal role in the development of our student-athletes, both on and off the field."

Foster, who will be stepping into the program as Assistant and Goalkeeping Coach, also brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the program. A Metro-Detroit native residing in Rochester for the past nine years, Foster has spent time as Assistant and Goalkeeping Coach at high level programs such as Lawrence Tech, where he led not only the varsity team, but also helped create the school's Reserve Team, which won the conference championship in its inaugural season. He also flourished at the Semi-Pro level with the USL League Two club Oakland County FC as Assistant and Goalkeeping Coach, as well as at the club level where he served in the same role for four years (2018-2022) for the prominent Nationals Soccer Club.

I'm excited to welcome Trevor to our staff. With his strong passion for goalkeeper development, I am confident he will elevate our GK union to new heights," said Zvosec. "Trevor's dedication to coaching and sincere care for the well-being of student-athletes is evident. His positive attitude and energy will undoubtedly empower our players and contribute significantly to their personal and professional growth."

Foster is also a highly accomplished High School Coach, having led both Utica Stevenson High School (2016-2020) and Romeo High School (2016-2020) to District Championships as Head Coach. Over his career he has shown an innate ability to develop talent, sending over 50 players from high school and club ranks to play at the collegiate level.
"It is my mission to help every student-athlete look back and say their experience left a lasting positive impact and was unforgettable," said an excited Foster. "Oakland Women's soccer has a rich history that I cannot wait to tap into and build unforgettable memories for current and future players."

The appointment of Newton and Foster marks an exciting new chapter for Oakland Women's Soccer. Their diverse experience, coupled with their dedication to player development, will greatly contribute to the team's success.
