Conner Williams to Join Women's Soccer Staff as Assistant Coach

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies women's soccer program continues their offseason growth, naming former Michigan Assistant Coach Conner Williams as the newest addition to the black and gold.

Golden Grizzlies Women's Soccer is excited to announce the hiring of Conner Williams as the new Assistant Women's Soccer Coach. Williams brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success at various levels of soccer coaching and analytics.

Williams joins Oakland from the University of Michigan Women's Soccer program, where he served as the Assistant Coach and Director of Analytics. While with the Wolverines, Williams was an integral part of the staff, bringing new and innovative strategies to training sessions, game planning, scouting reports, and in-game coaching through analytics.

Michigan ended the 2023 season with a 7-7-4 record, securing an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, marking their first appearance since 2021. Williams guided Michigan to 21 goals on 20 assists while garnering two All-Big Ten selections (Avery Kalitta, Sammi Woods) and a pair of All-Freshman Team nods (Lilley Bosley, Gabrielle Prych).

"I am thrilled to add Conner to the staff. He brings a unique background and a wealth of knowledge to the table," said Oakland Women's Soccer Head Coach Devin Zvosec. "He is a coach who genuinely cares about the student-athlete experience and has a drive to win. Throughout this process, it was clear that the team wanted passionate and positive coaches, and with Conner, we got exactly that. His experience in a high-performance culture such as Michigan, along with his NCAA tournament experience, will be invaluable in helping us establish a culture of success."

A native of Ann Arbor, Mich., Williams' coaching journey includes a successful tenure at Saline High School, where he served in various coaching roles, including Junior Varsity Boys Head Coach, Freshman Boys Head Coach, and Varsity Boys Head Coach. Under his leadership, the team won a district championship in his first season as head coach (2023). He also played a significant role in nurturing the tactical understanding and skills of standout players, including an All-American striker and an All-State defender.

In addition to his coaching roles, Williams brings a philanthropic leadership role to Oakland, having  served as the International Director for Poured Out, Inc., where he helped provide international water and sanitation programs in the United States, Haiti, and Uganda.

"I am absolutely honored to join the Oakland University Women's Soccer staff," said Williams. "I would like to extend my deepest thanks to Devin, the team, support staff, and administration for providing me with the opportunity to assist in leading the program to excellence on and off of the field. I am beyond excited to join the Grizzly community and hit the ground running this season!"

With team report date in just over a week, Williams and the rest of the women's soccer program are ready for a revamped return to the pitch.
