ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies fell to the Northern Kentucky Norse, 24-3, this afternoon in its series opener on the Oakland Baseball Field.

The Golden Grizzlies (19-18, 9-7 HL) were led by
Aidan Orr who tallied two RBI off a hit as
Brandon Nigh led the team with two hits. Six separate players tallied a hit as
Hunter Pidek led the team with five strikeouts.

The Norse (24-13, 12-4 HL) had nine players record at least a hit while five tallied 3+ hits. John Odom led the team with seven RBI off a trio of hits as starting pitcher Clay Brock struck out nine.

The Norse came out of the gate early as it tallied seven runs during the first two innings. The Golden Grizzlies cut the lead slightly as
Brandon Nigh hit a solo shot during the bottom of the second to make it a six-run game at 7-1. The Norse, however, answered with a pair more in the third to make it an eight-run game.

In the third,
Sam Griffith got on base and was driven home by a blast towards right field from
Aidan Orr to cut the lead back to six. Oakland put two more base runners on the pads with two outs, but the Norse ended the rally and kept the game at 9-3 after three. The Norse kept it going as it tallied a run in the fourth and followed it up with four more in the fifth to make it 14-3. Northern Kentucky scored a run in its sixth-straight inning as it added its 15th run of the game to put the Golden Grizzlies deficit to 12.

The Norse offense didn't quit as it loaded the bases in the seventh and hit a grand slam to make it 19-3, followed by a two-run home run to add its 21st run. The team recorded three more hits in the inning to account for nine runs in the seventh, as Oakland couldn't cut into the lead as the team was run-ruled in the seventh, 24-3.

The Golden Grizzlies were outhit, 22-7, as Oakland committed the only error on the day. The Norse tallied 11 extra-base hits as the Golden Grizzlies added a pair. On the bump, Oakland totaled five strikeouts while Northern Kentucky had nine.
