Golden Grizzlies Tally More Career Bests as they Wrap up in Lewisbug

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Golden Grizzlies returned to the track as they took part in the Bucknell Bison Classic this weekend.

Day 1

Oakland started day one in the field with the discus throw, as Romario Jackson's best throw of 49.22m earned him a top ten finish in the event. He joined Jaimie Giese, who finished in the top ten of the women's shot put as well with a throw of 12.67m. On the men's side of the shot put, Alex Mansfield was the top Golden Grizzly in the event with a throw of 15.35m, earning 13th place. Jake Kaup rounded out the Golden Grizzlies' field endeavors as he set a new personal best in the javelin throw with a throw of 50.18m.

On the track Oakland was busy and trail-blazing in their first day of the event, with 14 personal bests set on the oval. Starting off, Erin Hegarty and Carter McCalister both out-paced their previous marks in the women's and men's 5000m races. Hegarty (16:37.71) seventh while McCalister (14:36.42) placed 26th.

In the 1500m Madeline Richman earned a top career time of 4:40.31, while on the men's side Yami Albrecht (3:51.36) and Logan Detweiler (3:54.46) finished in the top 50 of the field.

In the men's 10,000m Josiah Magley (32:14.87) and Adam Jesse (30:33.79) paced well, both breaking personal bests as well, closing out the eventful Saturday.

Day 2

In a not as packed day number two, the Golden Grizzlies continued to shine, starting the day strong in the women's mile race, where Ellie Voetberg earned second place with a time of 5:09.87. In the women's 800m Abby Jackson once again was the top Oakland athlete to finish, clocking in at 2:10.77 to earn 11th place and a career best time. Hannah Fisher (2:14.46), Brooke Hinkelman (2:17.44), and Karenna Duffey (2:14.53) also topped their career marks.

With distance now in the books, the Golden Grizzlies grinded for even more milestones in the sprints.

Kylei Anderson (14.32) scorched the field for a fourth place finish and personal-best in the women's 110m hurdles. Emon Miles (15.10) also clocked a career high time for a top 25 finish. Grace Hungerford earned 12th in the women's 400m hurdles, while Ke'vina Finch earned top 20 finishes in the women's 100m and 200m to finish the day for the ladies.

Rounding out the weekend for Oakland, Julian Bailey set a pair of personal bests as well with a 13th place time of 21.83 in the men's 200m and a 21st place finish with a time of 10.80 in the men's 100m, while freshman Justice Stewart broke his best time of 48.75 in the men's 400m.

The Golden Grizzlies return to Rochester for the Elaine Leigh Invite next weekend on Apr. 19-20.
