ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies took care of business against Detroit Mercy in a tight-knit game on senior night and ended the regular season on a high note with a win, 75-70, tonight inside the OU Credit Union O'rena.

The Golden Grizzlies earned the one seed in the upcoming Horizon League Conference Tournament and won the regular season Horizon League title outright for the first time since joining the Horizon League. It's the second Horizon League title the team has won as it earned a share back in 2017.

The Golden Grizzlies (20-11, 15-5 HL) saw
Blake Lampman become the all-time leader in games played in an Oakland uniform with 138 and tallied a game-high 20 points on the night.
Trey Townsend was right behind with 18 points and led the team with six boards while
Jack Gohlke hit a trio from range to get to his 13 total points.

The Titans (1-30, 1-19 HL) had four players record double-digit points as Jayden Stone, the Horizon League's leading scorer, led the team with 19 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

The Titans grabbed the first points of the game off the three, but Lampman answered right back and drilled a three with a foul. Lampman went to the line and converted for the four-point play, but another three from the Titans put it ahead two early.
Rocket Watts got in on the action from a jumper, but another three from the Titans following a pair of offensive boards put it back ahead.

The lead was short lived once again as Gohlke did what he does best and drilled an off-balanced shot from downtown. Detroit Mercy went on a quick 4-0 run but Lampman drilled yet another three to cut the Titan lead to one. Despite just one win under its belt for the season, the Titans put up a fight as it hung on to its lead until the 8:57 mark where Lampman recorded his 10th point of the game.

Once again though, the Titans battled back and hit a three to take another lead as Townsend muscled his way through the paint and sank a hard basket.
Isaiah Jones got in on the action and grabbed the first lead for Oakland since the 18:39 mark before the teams traded off a pair of points and the lead. The Titans built back its lead and didn't let up as it hung around with a slim lead for the majority of the opening half.

Lampman was the only player on the floor who tallied double-digit points in the opening frame with 12 as Oakland struggled from the floor, going 9-of-25 (.360) with four makes from range. The Titans, on the other hand, were 12-of-25 from the floor (.480) and made five from three. The Titans also held an edge off the glass as it brought down 15 boards compared to the Golden Grizzlies 13.

Oakland cut the lead down to a pair twice in the opening minutes of the second half but the Titans grew its lead to seven.
Tuburu Naivalurua brought the energy and slammed home a dunk as Oakland forced a travel on the following possession. Townsend made work of the turnover and sank a bucket from the paint to pull within three.

The Titans rebuilt the lead to five, as Lampman made it a one possession game with a make from range, but the Titans had the answer as it matched a three with one of its own to bring the lead back to five. The Titans lead turned to four as
Chris Conway went up strong under the basket and put one in, with a foul, to make it a one-point game. Lampman forced a steal on the following possession as Oakland had a chance to take its first lead since 6:41 left in the first. Conway and Oakland took the lead in dominating fashion as he was fed the ball and had a wide-open lane to the hoop. He saw his opportunity and took it and slammed one through to make the O'rena erupt and take the lead, 53-52, with 9:58 to play.

Lampman kept it rolling as he brought down a missed Titan three and drilled his own three on the other end, followed by a make from downtown by Gohlke as Oakland tried to pull away. The Titans ended the run with a three of its own and eventually put its deficit to three, but a rare Gohlke layup gave Oakland a two-possession lead. The Titans cut it close as it worked its way into a one-point game but Townsend drew a foul and sank his two to put it back to three.

The Golden Grizzlies forced another Titans turnover and took advantage once again as it left Gohlke open up top and nailed one from deep to make it 70-65 with 2:18 to go. The Titans put up a fight as it hit a three to make it a two-point game with :45 seconds to play, but Oakland worked the shot clock down to :05 seconds as Townsend drew the contact and watched his basket go in for the three-point play.

Detroit Mercy needed to make some magic happen, down five with :17 seconds to play, as the defense locked down and forced a miss as the Golden Grizzlies won the close battle, 75-70.

The Golden Grizzlies upped its game in the second half and shot 16-of-26 (.615) from the floor and added four more from range to shoot at an overall clip of .490. The Titans shot at a .500 mark in the second half and a .489 clip in total as both teams equaled 25 rebounds.

The Golden Grizzlies now await its opponent as it earns a bye to the quarterfinal of the Horizon League Conference Tournament.
