Track and Field Laces Up for their First Outdoor Meet of the Season as they Head to Charlotte

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies Track and Field Teams transition into their outdoor season as they take on the Charlotte 49ers in a two day classic to kick off the 2024 outdoor campaign.

Both the men's and women's teams finished the indoor season with strong surges as the men's team placed third at the Horizon League Championships and the women's team placed fifth. The teams look to carry over their momentum from the indoor season, gearing up for an eventful outdoor campaign.

The Golden Grizzlies are dangerous in all events on both sides, and showed it during the indoor season. In the sprints, the youthful speed of runners like Ke'vina Finch and Kylei Anderson has been on full display, two runners who burst onto the scene in their freshman year by setting freshman records and personal bests throughout the season. For the 400m to 800m races, Oakland is as deep as any team in the league, with runners like Justice Stewart, Grace Hungerford, Eddie Harrell III, TJ Brooks, Abby Jackson, and Ashley Quinn who all made noise at the 2024 #HLTF Indoor Championships.

In the long distance races, the Golden Grizzlies return a well-decorated group of runners as well, including runners like Yami Albrecht, Wesley Hollowell and Colin Kane, along with a women's side that is packed with runners who were a part of the Horizon League Cross Country Championship Team like Erin Hegarty and Jennifer Ohlsson, just to name a pair.

In the field events Oakland also is primed for a big outdoor season. Romario Jackson is coming off the Indoor Championships where he set a new school record in the weight throw, combining with Blake Foster and Alex Mansfield to earn a second place finish in the event, not to mention a roster full of springy athletes who look to take over the long and high jumps.

The Golden Grizzlies kick off their visit to Charlotte at 11 a.m. on Friday, Mar. 15 and finish off the weekend with Day two starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Mar. 16
